Sensitive Skin: Doggy Style

Now we all know Harley.

Best. Dog. Ever.

And I want to be the best doggy mama.

Harley is very sleek and there isn't an ounce of fat on the precious "little" dog!

He has the most sensitive skin I have ever seen.

I feel bad for him. I have tried a spoonful of olive oil in his food on a weekly basis. An egg.

He gets special baths for sensitive skin.

This week I am trying a new food. The folks where I take him to get his grooming done say it may be food related... either an allergy or just a sensitivity. So I am going to try him on a food that has no corn, soy, wheat or dyes.

They said it may take about 2 weeks for us to notice a difference and I am hoping that by getting his good oatmeal bath now that will help with the adjustment period.

But when I can reach over and pet his back and find it all wet where he has been scratching, I know he is miserable.

And I don't like my baby being miserable.

The pet folks also told me that with less filler in the food he would need less of it because he would be full longer... They even gave me a 10 dollar off coupon to try the food to see if it would help.

Oh I hope it helps. But if anyone has any suggestions, me and SuperDoggy are all ears!

Real Food

So, in an effort to fully take control of the crazy woman who lives inside me.

You know the one? The one who lets me skip meals (sometimes for days) and guzzle Diet Coke like it uhmm, water?

The one who just grabs something convenient after a 12 hour day because that is easier than actually preparing a meal?

Well, she has to go. For good.

I have found a group of like minded people and post frequently in a facebook group that led me to the concept of Real Food. I have heard all sorts of different things about Paleo this and unprocessed that.

But honestly?

The diet coke guzzling witch wouldn't let me pay a lot of attention.

But my facebook group has a September challenge- a week long challenge right after labor day- to eat clean.

I know I need to do it longer than a week and in researching and preparing for said challenge, I found a website called 100 Days of Real Food. The link takes you to the start here page. That is where I am.

I have just about cleaned out the fridge and will be tacking the cabinets next. It isn't something you just jump into!

On the  100 Days website, I found a link to Christine Avanti's book. I read the sample (twice) and realized I actually want to read the whole book and really invest the time and effort and do this right.

I am interested to see where this experiment will go... and I plan to track my progress and backslides (the Diet Coke witch is a strong, powerful force, ya know?!) Although the stronger and healthier I become in the real food, the fewer backslides will become fewer and farther between.

And maybe then the diet coke witch will be fully dead!

Book Blitz: Seduce by Missy Johnson

 Seduce by Missy Johnson

 Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Twenty-five year old Jack Falcon doesn’t do relationships, and why would he when he has woman after woman literally throwing themselves at him? For Jack, life is perfect just the way it is. He works hard and he plays harder. Jack’s life changes when he meets Belle. Unlike any woman he’s ever met, there is something about this girl that makes him unable to keep away, something beyond the youthful beauty and her innocent spirit. Belle is strong and independent, a big leap from the usual brainless chicks he tends to attract. Jack begins a dangerous game. He is determined to seduce Belle, and without realizing it, his feelings for her develop beyond anything he has ever felt before. Things become complicated when he learns there are good reasons as to why he should stay the hell away from her. How can you stay away from someone you want to spend every waking minute with? And what do you do when you know eventually you will destroy that person? As their feelings for each other deepen, Jack struggles with his own internal demons which threaten to rip them apart. Jack is torn between following his heart and listening to his head, which keeps telling him he is not good enough for her. She deserves better than what he can give her. How far will he push before they both fall over the edge?

Girls were checking me out like they always did. At least I didn’t have to go through the hassle of wooing one of them, pretending to be someone I wasn’t. I already knew I was taking one home with me, I just wasn’t sure which one it would be. That was the beauty of being an attractive, rich bachelor who was regularly in the news: all I had to do was smile and the panties started dropping.

In the interest of full disclosure: I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Can I say, I cannot wait to read the next installment of the series. My Grandmother would have called Jack a "cad" but you are drawn to him and since I am not into giving too much away... all I will say is that, for me, I was fully in Jack's corner from early on but I have to think even the most hard hearted anti Jack reader will find their way by the end of the book!

Author Bio:
Missy lives in a small town in Central Victoria with her husband, and her confused pets (a dog who think she’s a cat, a cat who thinks he’s a dog…you get the picture).

When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.
