  FallenTeaserExcerpt
( Taken from Chapter 2) One of the stalls opens up and Lisa ventures forward. “Finally.” Stepping inside and closing the door, she thinks of the red eyes she thought she saw. "Maybe I didn't see anything," she whispers to herself. As she’s using the toilet, the girls inside the bathroom quickly begin to leave. The sound of the music fades in and out a few times before Lisa is left alone. Finishing up, she raises a foot to flush the toilet. Then she smells something that makes her wrinkle her nose. It smells like…sulfur? It reminds her of the sulfur springs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Hearing a growl, Lisa freezes and her heart skips a beat. The pungent sulfur smell grows stronger and she hears the growl again but, this time, it's deeper and closer. Panicking, she stands there frozen, unsure of what to do. Lisa peeks through the crack between the stall door and the lock. On the other side, something steps away from the wall. The image resembles a human-shaped bubble, but the clear substance begins to solidify. The figure starts to shift into a tall, hooded man. She gasps and holds her breath. She can feel her heart beating so hard, it’s flooding her ears. The hood is pulled down far enough to cover his features, providing a shadow over his face. He snarls as he stretches his arms out, cracking his neck. Feeling a force like a wind blow through the bathroom, the first stall door slams open. His low voice growls, "Come out, come out, wherever you are. I know you are in here." He sniffs the air, then snarls, "I can smell you." Lisa gasps. His voice is dark, sadistic. Growls and struggled breathing fill the air. If fear were a language, he was the creator. Lisa begins to shake. Not knowing what else to do, she pulls the pumps off of her feet, then steps on the toilet seat to hide herself. Looking up, she sees a vent in the next stall. That probably wouldn’t help her escape. Looking back down, her heart begins beating faster as panic rises in her chest. She feels the force of wind again as the next stall slams open. Tears begin to form in her eyes. Swiping at them, Lisa dares to peek over the top of the stall to see a black hood covering the man's head. He's tall and carries a thick build. His skin is tan, and his toned chest is thick with muscles and dark chest hair. "Lisa…” he hisses, as a serpent's tongue slips through his lips, tasting her presence in the air. “I know you're in here. Come on out.” He chuckles darkly, the sound low and almost hypnotic. “Let’s play."

Men of Fallen (1)
Review

In all honesty, I was a beta reader for this book, so I received a copy of this book to review. If I tell you that I have since bought my own copy, on release day no less, does that tell you how much I liked it. It wasn't my usual kind of book when I started it and I thought oh well, I will keep reading. These opinions are mine and are honest!

Fallen is the story of Lisa and Alex. You cannot hear the tone of voice when I say Alex but trust me, while he is a wonderful character and a great uhm 'person', he is not my favorite male character. I fall squarely in Team Samuel land. And I don't mind admitting it.

Lisa takes her dream job in an PR firm in NYC. She has a great job and is living the life she wants. For five years, she moves and shakes with the cream of the crop.

And then a series of events, from vivid dreams, strange shadows and messages in the bathroom mirror, and a mysterious run in at a club ladies room, make her think she is losing her mind. Alex is a handsome neighbor who lives in her building. The two start seeing each other and it isn't long before the strange events get stranger.

Not wanting to give too much away, let's just say that Alex isn't necessarily who Lisa thinks he is and Samuel isn't just her boss. What happens between Lisa and Samuel one night sets a set of events in motion that have Alex making the decision of a lifetime.

The old adage appears to be true for Lisa: be careful what you wish for. Equally true is the one about never signing anything before you read it.

Sometimes you get what you wish for and it has consequences beyond your wildest imagination!

I highly recommend this book. It's a paranormal romance. It can get sexy in places but it is an awesome read.

And I know for a fact that the author is working on book 2 of The Fallen Chronicles and this new author just needs to keep on writing!

CharacterBios

Lisa: Lisa Adams grew up in New York City and went to college NYU, majoring in public relations. Pi Beta Phi is her sorority who's symbols are Golden Arrows and Angels (coincidence?) Colors are wine & silver blue. After graduation she spent time in PR firms building her career, where she landed in Elite PR & Marketing. As a child she wanted to be a rockette, then a super star singer. Realizing she couldn't carry a tune, she thought it would be fun to go into acting. That is when she discovered public relations and she's never looked back. She had her first boyfriend at age 14. Her first love at 18 when she started college. She unfortunately found him cheating on her with her "best friend". This is when she met Jill. Jill was in the dorm where she found her "ex" boyfriend. Jill took her out for drinks and the two instantly connected

Alex/Archangel Selaphiel: Alex is his human name. Selaphiel was born a man before he became an angel. He was the profit to Elijah. Once he passed on and was accepted into Heaven, Selaphiel became the angel of prayer, eventually becoming the Archangel Selaphiel. He helps people connect to God through prayer, giving them the focus they need to block out distractions and concentrate on praying. Selaphiel motivates people to express their deepest thoughts and feelings to God in prayer, and to listen carefully for God’s responses. In art, Selaphiel is usually depicted in one of two ways. Icons of Selaphiel from the Eastern Orthodox Church show him looking downward with his hands crossed over his chest -- an expression of both the humility and concentration that he encourages people to have when praying to God. Catholic art usually shows Selaphiel holding a water container and two fish, which represents God’s provision through prayer. Typically is aura is red.

                                              Excerpt

Amy knocked on the door before entering and saw him at his computer.  He looked up, and guilt shadowed his features before he clicked his mouse, probably minimizing a screen and turned to her.
"Hey, what's up?"  He asked.
Amy walked over to him, holding out his drink.  "Nothing, I just brought you a drink.  Here."
"Thanks."  He took the offered drink and sipped it, gratefully.  Amy tentatively sat on the recliner facing his computer desk in the corner.
"What are you doing?"  Amy was trying to be conversational, but her tone of voice came off as more whiney than anything, and it disgusted her.
"Nothing.  Just surfing the web.  I don't have time for any of that stuff at work," he said flatly.
Trying to engage Bryan in conversation, she teased, "Any spicy pictures?"
Anger flashed in his eyes, and she immediately regretted her question.  "No.  I'm not looking at porn, Amy."
"I was joking, Bryan. Relax."  She took a sip of her whiskey and set her glass down before walking over behind the stool Bryan was sitting on and rubbing his shoulders.  "You just seem tense lately, that's all.  I was trying to loosen you up."  She stood close to him, as she rubbed his back, running her nails up and down it, before sending her hands back up to his neck to rub there.  She grazed his back with her hips, in an attempt to entice him a little.
"Yeah, work's been rough.  Deadlines and new clients."  He took another sip of his drink and said, "I'm going to join a gym and work out on my lunch break.  That might help some of the stress."
Jealousy and disappointment flashed through Amy, but she snuffed it out, forcing the tendrils of negative emotion down deep in her psyche.  She had suggested that they join a gym several years ago, in an effort to find something for them to do together.  Apparently, he didn’t remember that.  Forcing the hurt from her voice, she said, "That sounds like a good plan."  She rubbed his shoulders for a little while longer, but Bryan seemed to just get tenser.  So she stopped, feeling stupid.
"Well, I'll let you get back to surfing."  She left to go finish the dishes, wondering what exactly he was looking at online.  If not porn, then what?  She wouldn't really care if he was looking at porn, she'd been known to do it a time or two, herself.  She was glad that he was doing something about his stress level, even if it did mean that he wouldn't be coming home for lunch any more, but she couldn't help but feel like he was trying to spend less time with her.  And it hurt.

As a child, SJ loved to write in journals and make up short stories and has a flare for all things creative. With an overactive imagination at times, SJ adores to make notes, visualize scenes and settings to create characterizations.

While on holiday with her family one summer reading book after book, she had a flash of inspiration and has had various ideas whirling around in her mind ever since. It was not until she pulled back on teaching classes that she found the courage, time and insight into actually bringing these ideas to life.

In February 2013 she decided to bring that imagination to light by beginning her writing  journey with ‘Lussuria’ the first installment in ‘The Luminara Series’ available from late October 2013.

Being a self-confessed book junkie, she loves nothing better than to get lost in an emotional and moving book. A true romantic at heart, her guilty pleasure is reading heart-warming, passionate stories and falling in love with her favorite fictional characters.

With five books already mapped out in ‘The Luminara Series’, SJ’s busy creative mind has already planned two more fictitious novels, both stand-alone romance books and very different in their own right.

November!

With many of my friends participating in NaNoWriMo during the month of November, I am participating in NaBloPoMo and doing a daily blog post during the month. Although some days may have more than one!

And this November has started off with a bang.

My first beta experience was with this amazing author... Julie Morgan. You can check her website out here.

I loved her book, Fallen. PS -- it's schedule release date is December 1 and I shall be promoting it here and on facebook! It is a great book and I have already begged asked to beta for the follow up, Redemption.

She asked me to be her assistant at The Novel Experience Event in March, 2014 in Atlanta. Of course I said yes. We are having a blast making all sorts of plans and arrangements. Fun will definitely be had!

So this afternoon, the amazing Julie asked if I wanted to be her assistant at an August 2014 event-- Sin With The Saints. They are working up the website now but I have joined the facebook groups and I have already put in the calendar and I am blogging about it here.

Excited much?

That would be a hell yeah! That it is in a state that I have not marked off the list is an added bonus!

What a great early birthday present!

Teaser

I dissolved into the seat of his amazing car. A low moan escaped my lips but Killian just showed his dimples and buckled me in. I wondered what he’d do if I pulled him tightly against me and sniffed… for an hour or two. He opened his door and folded into the seat with absolute grace regardless of his size. “Ah hell,” he muttered and turned my way. Unlatching my seatbelt, he pulled me in for the most mouthwatering kiss I’d ever had. His lips, soft but firm, molded to mine. His tongue ran over my teeth, tasted, dipped deeper, and then plunged. He effortlessly slid out the elastic holding my hair before spreading his fingers to either side of my scalp. The kiss intensified and Killian made promises for the night ahead with his lips. He tasted so damn good. When he pulled back, I actually whimpered and smiled at the low rumbling growl that came from Killian’s throat. He took my lower lip between his teeth and pulled slightly before letting go. He put distance between us leaving me bereft. “We’ll eat at my house.” He kissed my forehead, reached over, grabbed the seatbelt, and fastened me in again. My hands went to my hair as I looked around for the hair tie. “Leave it.” I stopped my search but couldn’t help running my fingers through the mussed tangles. Killian’s hand captured mine. “No.” He released my fingers just as fast as he verbalized the one word. I wasn’t a pushover, didn’t have much experience with guys, but I had some. I should have argued, straightened my hair anyway, or even voiced some sort of displeasure. An electrically charged pulse shot straight to the junction of my thighs, and there I went and tried to stain his car’s upholstery. I kept my mouth shut.

Review

The author provided me a copy of "Play" for my honest review.

"Play" is the first book in the Completion Series--a sports themed series-- by Holly S. Roberts.

"Play" is the story of Rebecca, a long distance running college student, and Killian, the star pro football quarterback. It just goes to show you that something amazing can come from a bad situation.

Rebecca has a negative self image of herself and no one can ever say that about Killian. He's an alpha male who knows exactly what he wants. And he wants Rebecca. With his help, she begins to accept herself more and falls head over running shoes.

Killian is the stuff of dreams... from sex in the rain, games from the skybox and flights to away games, Killian sweeps Rebecca off her feet.

"Play" is a love story. But it is not all touchdowns and wins. Killian has a pain filled past and a game day ritual that doesn't leave room for Rebecca or losing.

The secondary characters of "Play": Rebecca's friends Amanda and Lyle; and Killian's team mates, his family Beth and Mike, bring so much to this story that you find yourself wrapped up in the whole story.

And you find it impossible to put this book down.

I absolutely loved this book and found myself cheering for Rebecca and Killian throughout this whole book.
